  • The blossom becomes the fruit becomes the seed becomes the tree. The blossom becomes the fruit becomes the seed becomes the tree. Life flows onward life flowing onward, from its beginning into the end, then at the ending a new beginning, life’s everlasting we taste again. The blossom becomes the fruit becomes the seed becomes the tree…

As People of the Earth and specifically Women of Power we understand that birth and death are graceful partners on the dance floor of Life. The dance of circles is comprised of intricately woven steps choreographed to the cadence of the drum -- the beat of the human heart.

On the dance floor of Life, we move from breath to breath and from partner to partner, unable to detect the beginning from the end. Sunrises, sunsets, phases of the Moons, seasons changing; ever forward and onward and back to the beginning again.

Join with us as two very sensitive and experienced presenters bring us into our own power and the awareness of being the choreographers of this dance and the midwives to the most intimate Rites of Passage we will ever know. From Womb to Womb, a journey into the mystery of our quest to know ourselves.

Tarot and the Mysteries of Life, Death and Rebirth with Joanna Powell Colbert

The Tarot has been called a Book of Wisdom, and like other sacred texts it explores the themes of life, death and rebirth. We will examine these themes in specific cards such as the Moon, Death and Awakening (Judgement) in Joanna's Gaian deck as well as traditional Tarot decks. We'll practice our reading skills and read intuitively for ourselves and for each other. We will also work with spreads and exercises that illuminate our spiritual path or calling in this lifetime. No Tarot experience necessary. Bring any Tarot deck(s) with you.

Joanna Powell Colbert has been called one of “the most accomplished and well-loved artists in the Goddess-spirit community” by Amber Lotus Publishers. After nine years of intense work, her Gaian Tarot deck and book will be published by Llewellyn Worldwide in September 2011, with a limited collector's edition to precede it in Spring 2010. This project combines Joanna's love of symbolic, archetypal art with the mysteries of the natural world. Joanna has taught workshops on Goddess spirituality and the Tarot since the early 90's. She lives in the woods outside Bellingham , Washington where daily encounters with Mama Gaia continue to inspire and inform her work.

Midwifing the Spiral of Life with Nora Cedarwind Young

Together we will awaken the midwife within every woman as we step onto the pathway of personal empowerment in caring for Mother Earth, the green burial movement and family-directed choice at end-of-life. As Goddess women, we will reclaim the wise women ways of folk traditions as we learn about the realities of the modern funeral industry. We will empower ourselves to care for our elders, our partners and ourselves, as we affirm that death is a certain destination on the spiral of life. We will begin the process of becoming empowered, charged and ready to embrace the work of preparation for the most sacred moments along this journey. We will all cross the threshold into the Summerlands, so let us together embrace this truth as women in power, in choice, and in the embrace of the Goddess.

Nora Cedarwind Young is a Certified Death Midwife, Green Burial Educator, and Hospice Chaplain in Washington State . She educates others about the healing value of home funerals, green burial and family directed choice at end-of-life. Nora has been featured in many books and articles about end-of-life, the green burial movement, and end-of-life planning and paperwork. Her article “End-of-life Preferences for Wiccans, Pagans and Nature Spirituality Practitioners” appeared in the "Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing." She is most happy teaching three or four day intensives for small groups that bring the traditions home to communities who wish to care for their beloved dead.
